Certificate of Achievement
After successfully completing your ELA coursework, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement.
ELA Admissions Criteria
No TOEFL test is required to enter the ELA. Students are tested and placed into the Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced level. Demonstrate minimum English language proficiency (USD requires TOEFL iBT score of 80).

American Business English & Cross Cultural Communications
Students and business professionals who are interested in learning about American business practices.

Length of Program
70 hours to complete program. Course schedule varies according to students' availability.
Program goals
- expand business vocabulary
- improve business writing skills
- improve overall writing with an emphasis on grammar
- gain confidence in understanding the American style of business, in making business presentations, and in communicating in a business setting.
Program Completion
Final Business Presentations. Presentations made at the English Language Academy in San Diego.

Summer International Youth Program
This well-established summer program is for non-native groups of teenagers (14 - 17 yrs) who must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Students can practice their language skills in and out of the classroom. In-class instruction includes skill development in reading/writing and listening/speaking. Students can use their new skills as they participate in a fantastic activity program including field trips, sporting activities and social events.
Group numbers
Groups of any size are welcome but 20 paying students are needed for a free chaperone (Group Leader) place.
Maximum class size is 15.
Program Costs
We will gladly send you a proposal based on the group size and the length of stay. This will include tuition, full-board campus accommodation and a full activity program. $65 per person per return airport transfer (San Diego airport only).
Length of Program
Groups can stay for 2, 3 or 4 weeks between:
- 13 June - 15 August 2010

- Practice and refine English language skills in a fun and all-American environment.

Short-term Summer Intensive English Language Program
Suitable for non-native speakers of English who are at the Intermediate level of learning and who wish to continue practicing their skills during summer vacation.

Short-term English Communication Program
This new short program is for non-native learners aged 18+ and offers students the following program options:
- General English (15 hrs)
- Business English or TOEFL Preparation or American Culture (20 hrs)
- General English + Business English (35 hrs)
- General English + TOEFL Preparation (35 hrs)
- General English + American Culture (35 hrs)
Students can practice their language skills in and out of the classroom. In-class instruction includes skill development in reading/writing and listening/speaking. Students can use their new skills as they participate in the off-site component of the program, called "Out & About in San Diego".

- $520 per person per week for General English or Business English or TOEFL Preparation or American Culture
- $970 per person per week for General English + Business English or TOEFL Preparation or American Culture
